‘Discover Running Sponsored By Track Shack’

Come together with your friends and family to take part in the first annual east side middle school cross country event. There is a 2 mile middle school student race, a 2 mile open race (non-middle school), and a free half mile elementary school run. Beginners are welcome and encouraged to come and see that running can be a part of your life.  

This day is also about family!  We have 3 runs available depending on age. There will be food and entertainment, in addition to the excitement of the races!  We will also showcase the student activities offered at Discovery Middle. This event is a gathering of family and an introduction to Discovery and running for beginners. Running can be an important part of a healthy community. 

 

Parking

Volunteers and early arrivals staying for the entire event should park in the bus loop off of Lake Underhill Rd. *This lot WILL CLOSE from 6:45 to the end of the Kids race.  

The primary parking lot will be the car-loop lot off Woodbury Rd.

Over-flow parking will be right across the street from the Woodbury driveway at Waterford Elementary.  *Please exercise caution when crossing the street.

 

Event Timeline (Approximate)

6:00am - Gates open

6:45am - Bus Loop Parking lot closes, Car Rider lot and Waterford remain open.
7:00am - Bib Pickup opens 

7:45am - Warm-up  Course Walk - Beginners Mosey
8:00am - START of the Middle School Run (approximately 2 miles all on campus)
8:45am - START of the Open Run (approximately 2 miles all on campus)
9:30am - Elementary Run (half mile) 

10:00am - Bus Loop re-opens
10:00am -  Awards

Amenities include the following:

Race T-Shirts  

All participants who register for a run by January 31st  will receive a t-shirt. Please register by 1/31/2026 to guarantee availability of the correct t-shirt size!

 

Finisher Medals
All paid participants will receive a  finisher medal to begin your collection or add to those memories. Please register by 1/31/2026 to guarantee availability of the medal.   

 

Run Awards
Awards will go to the top 3 overall finishers in the Middle School Event and the Open Event. There will be a clock at the finish line for everyone to see their finish times. We will do our very best to record every participant’s finish time.   

 

 

WEATHER

Races will be held rain or shine. If the rain is light the event will go on. If the rain is heavy or there is lightning, we will delay and all persons must move to take cover in their cars or in the GYM. If severe weather is imminent, the event may be cancelled. As a reminder, registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

 

SAFETY RULES

In order to ensure safety of all runners, bicycles, roller skates, in-line skates, baby carriers and dogs are prohibited from the race venue. It is VERY important for you to stay alert throughout the race, stay on the course  and obey all race signage and race volunteers.

LATE REGISTRATION 

We can take late registrations up until Feb 19th. The cost will be $20 and might not include the T-Shirt.  (200 runner max capacity) 

Elementary Run
Following the 2 Mile Middle and Open events, we will host a FREE Elementary ½ mile run!   We will not be recording times for the Kids run.  All Kids who participate will receive a Kids Run Finisher item!

Volunteers

Additions - Make sure you sign up for Additions with Discovery Middle School.

Volunteer parking - If you are going to stay till the end, please park in the bus-loop grass. If not, you can find parking in the car lot or Waterford lot.   

Volunteer Table - Please report to the Volunteer’s table for sign-in and to get your volunteer form signed. 

Assignments - We have several groups of volunteers arriving and working today.  Each group will have an area that they are working along with their colleagues. 

 

Food Trucks

Food Trucks have to enter through the Lake Underhill Gate between 6:00 and  6:45am.  You will drive, keeping to the left, around the school to the outdoor basketball pad.  Please be set up for business at 7am.  

*The course circles the Food Truck and Table area.  You will not be able to drive until the end of the Elementary Run. So, please do not close until the end of the Elementary Run.  

 

Tables/Tents

Gates to the school open at 6:00.  If you will be on campus till the event ends, please park in the bus-loop grass before 6:45.  If you need to drop off items from your vehicle, you may drive all the way around the campus, keeping to the left, to the basketball pad.  Drop your items, and return your vehicle to the bus-loop grass by 6:45.

The course circles the Basketball pad, so no vehicles can be driven to the pad until the end of the Elementary Run.  Tables and Tents should be set up until the  Elementary Run Starts.
